Wind blowing smoke from wildfires across the state has caused much of the region's air quality to diminish to an unhealthy level. On Monday, Greif reported the Ducks were moving Tuesday's workout rom Eugene to a middle school closer to the coast because of poor air conditions.
The next few days will be very interesting to decide the fate of where and when Nebraska's football game with OR will be played.
"Based upon information provided by air protection agency, athletic departments and expert health and safety advice of university medical professionals, a decision will be made on whether an event may be postponed or rescheduled if it is too risky to play", the Pac-12 statement reads. Portland Public Schools said all their high school games and practices, indoor and outdoor, were canceled Tuesday.
"The universities playing the games make the ultimate decision and that will be made sometime Saturday morning", the statement said.
OR moved its practice Tuesday morning from Eugene to Siuslaw Middle School in Florence, closer to the Pacific Coast.
OR is set to take on Nebraska this Saturday at home, and the air quality is expected to return to normal by then.
The smoky skies have already postponed sporting events in OR with Game 1 of Eugene Emerald's first-round playoff series in minor-league baseball's Northwest League to be postponed over hazardous air quality conditions.
Nebraska is coming off a 43-36 win over Arkansas State in its season opener at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln on Saturday, while the Ducks soared to a 77-21 win over Southern Utah at Autzen Stadium in their opener.
Tennis season looks over for Andy Murray
Murray, 30, has endured a hard year which has been brought into sharper focus when compared to how he ended the 2016 campaign. It nearly certainly means he is out of the season-ending final - the ATP World Tour Finals - in London in November.
