Military options against N.Korea effective, overwhelming

US First Lady Melania Trump speaks with students as she visits a youth centre at Joint Andrews Airforce base Maryland

Trump and first lady Melania Trump met with military families and watched an air show demonstration at the base that serves as the home of Air Force One, the presidential plane.

US President Donald Trump and his top national security advisers said there were military options available for dealing with the North Korea crisis which were both "effective and overwhelming", the media reported.

"America and our allies will never be intimidated", Trump said. Earlier, he had flown a smaller Air Force One to Morristown from Joint Base Andrews, arriving in New Jersey at 5:12 p.m.

Speaking at Joint Base-Andrews in Camp Springs, Md., Trump said the Air Force "are the ones that own the sky" and have for almost a quarter-century.

Trump reiterated a statement made earlier in the day by U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley about American responses to North Korea, saying the US has an "overwhelming" number of military options - some of which he said he'd seen before the speech.

"Our thoughts are with those recovering from the hurricanes", Trump said, and that the response to the devastation is "revealing how truly united Americans are".

"For those who have said, and been commenting about a lack of a military option, there is a military option", McMaster said. His administration, he said, plans to "stop delaying needed investments in our readiness". "And at that point there is not a whole lot the security council is going to be able to do from here when you have cut 90% of the trade and 30% of the oil", she said. "We're celebrating 70 years of history, 70 years of heroes and 70 years of victory".

President Donald Trump returned to his Bedminster golf club on Friday, beginning what is expected to be a weekend stay before the United Nations General Assembly meeting next week.
