One Ohio man's plot to "discipline" his 6-year-old daughter by chasing her around the neighborhood in a clown mask ended with his little girl jumping into a stranger's vehicle, a neighbor firing his gun and a pair of arrests, police say.
Police said someone called them for help after a scared, young child ran into an apartment while she was being chased by her father, who was wearing a clown mask.
Barrett told police that instead of spanking his daughter, he was chasing her because she had been misbehaving.
Police say the child ended up jumping into a stranger's vehicle, and then ran down the street and into a stranger's apartment.
A man in the apartment - whom local media identified as Dion Santiago - went outside and fired a gunshot into the ground as a warning.
The man donned a clown mask to "discipline" his daughter.
Barrett said his daughter was having behavioral issues, but he made a decision to scare her as discipline instead of spanking because of what her mother did, the report said.
However, he was later charged with using weapons while intoxicated, AP reported.
The charges follow a Perth teen's terror at being chased and spooked after she was chased by 2.5km by three men wearing clown masks on Saturday night.
