Mamata's "Aurangzebic dictate" against Hindus will be a waterloo for her: RSS

Durga Puja

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has said that the RSS, Bajrang Dal and VHP should not try to disturb peace in the state during the coming Durga Puja and warned that they should not play with fire. "It is she who is doing this", he added.

"Women will put sindoor on each other and Vijaya Dashami rituals will be observed as usual".

Bangladesh government has banned the use of crackers during the festivities of Durga Puja, the largest Hindu religious festival of the country that starts next week. If in Mumbai there can be Ganesh possession and Moharram together the why can't it be in Bengal. Last month, the West Bengal government had announced that it would distribute identity cards issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to Rohingya children lodged in juvenile justice homes across the state after UNHCR officials in India wrote to the West Bengal government.

"The administration will take stern measures against those trying to disrupt peace", she said.

The immersion of Durga's idol has been limited within the timeframe of 3:00pm to 8:00pm.

"What we had said is on the day of ekadashi on October one there will be no immersions. I even tweeted about it after the meeting with the Puja committees". Her comments came a day after the VHP made a decision to go ahead with its plan of a "shastra pujan (weapon worship)" at private and religious institutions during Bijoya Dashami (Vijaya Dashami) across the state, despite CM Banerjee's instruction to police to thwart any such event.

Keeping the state's law and order in mind, Banerjee had earlier said that immersion of Durga idols will not be permitted on 1 October because of Muharram processions scheduled for the same day.
