Liverpool 1 Burnley 1: Dyche's battlers spring another surprise

Burnley manager Sean Dyche gives an update on his side before their weekend clash with Liverpool

Philippe Coutinho's Premier League return ended in disappointment, as the Clarets, who have won only once in their 23 visits to Anfield, opened the scoring in the 27th minute courtesy of Scott Arfield.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised Burnley boss Sean Dyche for the work he has done with the club - claiming that the way he has the Clarets organised makes it very hard to play against.

After having surgery on his shoulder earlier this week, Tom Heaton will be replaced in goal by Nick Pope.

GOAL! - Salah 30' - Liverpool react quickly, with Mo Salah producing another goal in his excellent debut season.

Klopp's side came close to finally taking the lead in the closing stages.

The Reds pushed for a second and Daniel Sturridge just missed out on James Milner's cross late in the half.

Liverpool's frustrations continue to grow: After a hellish week in which they were thrashed by Manchester City before conceding late at home to Sevilla in mid-week, this was the ideal opportunity for the Reds to return to winning ways.

Burnley man Jonathan Walters has previously netted on seven occasions against Liverpool.

"It was the best game against Burnley since I am here, not result-wise, but performance-wise for sure", he told reporters, "[but] it doesn't feel good". One player who does not get a break is Joel Matip, who is likely headed for an involuntary break if he keeps playing the full 90 minutes, two days a week.

Burnley, meanwhile, have registered five points from trips to Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool, proving Sean Dyche's team are no longer pushovers away from home. "We were dominant, fantastic attitude". Obviously we have quality and now we have to use this quality consistently.

"I didn't want to change him at the end, that's why it looked a bit confused as we brought the subs on".

You could argue Pope should have done better for Salah's goal, but that could be considered harsh after a respectable performance in challenging circumstances.

Substitute Solanke then hit the woodwork from inside the six-yard box with four minutes to go after Salah had been felled in the penalty area.

For all the hosts' dominance, Dyche will have been confident that his side needed just one chance to take the lead and so it came to pass.
