Leon Goretzka is reportedly set to join Bayern Munich next summer after the German giants reached an "oral agreement" with Schalke for his services.
Goretzka's contract runs out at the end of the season and although Schalke board member Christian Hedel had recently said "I'd like to think that by the winter break we will have clarity,", the German club are unlikely to wait for their star man to simply walk out on a free.
The Spanish publications add that Barcelona have already contacted Goretzka's agent with the player also keen on advancing his move to the Nou Camp in January.
Barca therefore appear to have a free hit at 22-year-old Goretzka when the transfer window opens.
Goretzka has always been regarded as one of the top young players in the Bundesliga, having established himself as a regular for Schalke since the 2013/14 season.
The Gunners are one of the top go-to teams when it comes to a club needing a player, probably because there is so much need for reinforcement on the pitch.
Bild estimates that Goretzka would command a fee of around £62million in this current market, which saw huge inflation in the summer just gone as Neymar and Ousmane Dembele became the most expensive and second most expensive players in history with respective fees of £199m and £136m.
