Extreme 518bhp Land Rover Discovery SVX unveiled at Frankfurt Motor Show

Jaguar E Type Zero

Powered by Land Rover's supercharged 518bhp 5.0-litre petrol engine, the SVX boasts some 183bhp more than the top 3.0-litre petrol engine now offered, and - although no performance figures have been published - it ought to smash the 7.1-second 0-62mph time of that model.

Sitting alongside the Range Rover SVR and SVAutobiography lines designed for on-road performance, the Discovery SVX puts 625Nm of torque through the wheels, and feature hydraulic active body roll control, which additionally gives the vehicle extra wheel articulation for better traction on the slippery stuff. A specially tuned Terrain Response 2 system and Active Roll Control are firsts for the new Discovery.

Other systems it comes equipped with include Hill Descent Control, Electronic Traction Control (ETC), Adaptive Dynamics, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) and variable ratio electric power-assisted steering (EPAS).

Once lauded as "the most handsome auto in the world" by Enzo Ferrari, the new E-type Zero keeps the classic Jaguar styling while introducing a bespoke electric powertrain that produces up to 220kW of power, according to The Verge.

Jaguar Land Rover, the UK's premium automotive company, electrifies at Frankfurt Motor Show with six model debuts and a world first announcement. Unique Narvik Black side vents with V8 badging, a Narvik Black Dynamic grille, black roof rails and a roof-mounted unit with two additional light pods for improved low light visibility complete the transformation.

Along with the SVX, Land Rover has announced that a new 296bhp version of its 2.0-litre Ingenium four-cylinder petrol engine will be offered to Discovery customers. The new engine produces 400Nm of torque and Carbon dioxide emissions from 222g/km. According to Land Rover, updated graphics allow it to "create the impression of 3D surfaces with exceptional clarity" and personalise the information on display. Digital connectivity is enhanced with the introduction of 4G WiFi on SE derivatives and above, providing superior connection speeds for up to eight mobile devices on the move.
