Demand for Cellular Apple Watch Series 3 'Significantly Stronger' Than Expected

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the most famous analyst with KGI Securities when it comes to Apple, it is very likely that iPhone X demand will cannibalise iPhone 8 pre-orders. The new iPhone 8/8 Plus units are being delivered in just 1 to 2 weeks or less.

As such, probably the only way to get hold of the new phone anytime soon is when pre-orders open early in the morning of 27 October.

Kuo explained that the iPhone X's all-screen front panel and its new facial recognition features such as the Face ID, which allows users to unlock the device with their face, will "drive replacement demand for the iPhone X".

IPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus pre-orders opened in the USA on Friday, and now KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports anticipation for the upcoming iPhone X has cooled interest in the phones.

We revise down our forecast for 2017F iPhone X shipments from 45 to 50 million to around 40 million units, but we therefore revise up our 2018 iPhone X shipment estimate to 80 to 90 million units. While it typically takes 3-6 weeks or more to ship new iPhone models after they are available for preorder, Kue expects iPhone 8 to take perhaps a week or less, as most consumers opt to watch for the iPhone X. Apple unveiled both phone models last week, with the higher-end iPhone X model starting at a record high price of $999.

Apple would launch iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, starting Rs 64,000, in India on September 29 while pre-bookings will start on September 22.

Some critics cited Apple's decision to delay the launch of the iPhone X, which the company has dubbed "the future of the smartphone".

Apple Watch is available in two different case sizes, 38mm and 42mm from September 29 in India.
