SA-born comedian Trevor Noah walked away with his first Emmy this weekend at the award's Creative Arts ceremony in LA‚ taking the top prize for his YouTube comedy special‚ The Daily Show: Between the Scenes.
Samantha Bee and her writing staff won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special for her alternative to the White House Correspondents' Dinner, the "Full Frontal with Samantha Bee Presents Not the White House Correspondents' Dinner".

Dave Chappelle won guest actor in a comedy for his November 12 Saturday Night Live hosting gig. She's Emmy royalty, having won for Seinfeld and The New Adventures of Old Christine as well, and the recent announcement that Veep's upcoming seventh season will be its last just means that Emmy voters are likely to take every opportunity to award a show and a star that are clearly among their very favorites. Those were followed by four awards for limited series The Night Of, which earned nods for cinematography, sound mixing, costumes and single-camera picture editing.
SNL, coming off one of its most successful seasons in years, got wins in both the best guest actor and actress in a comedy series awards for two hosts. Other winners included Meryl Streep for narrating the Netflix's documentary "Five Came Back", Seth MacFarlane for his voiceover performances in Fox's "Family Guy", and, for the second year running, "RuPaul's Drag Race" VH1 host RuPaul Charles. The same was also true for The Handmaid's Tale as Alexis Bledel won the Award for Outstanding Guest Actress. Melissa McCarthy and Dave Chappelle took Guest Actress/Actor in a Comedy, respectively, for their hosting stints on Saturday Night Live.
Leah Remini won for outstanding informational series for her A&E series, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath. She dedicated the award to "our fearless contributors who, despite ongoing risk and repercussion, spoke out and told their stories". The long-running NBC sketch series was up for 22 Emmys this year, tied for the most-nominated series with HBO's "Westworld". The 2017 Creative Emmy Awards will air on FXX as a special on September 16.
