Chevrolet Launches Silverado and Colorado Centennial Edition Trucks

"The Chevy Trucks Centennial is a huge milestone for us, and is equally important to our customers", said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Trucks advertising and marketing director.

General Motors marks the 100 anniversary of Chevrolet truck sales with a pair of centennial special edition models of the Silverado and Colorado light pickups, due at USA dealers in October and November, respectively. The Centennial Edition Silverado and Colorado trucks will bear the same Centennial blue exterior paint, have spray-in bed liners and will be available on the Z71-optioned trucks. It was a rolling chassis featuring an open cab, an inline four-cylinder engine and an open frame allowing customers to install the body that worked for their specific need. Since that first truck, Chevy has sold some 85 million more in the century since. Colorado Centennial Editions will be available in November. It is only offered on Silverado 1500 in LTZ Z71 Crew Cab models, while Colorado buyers can only add it to Z71 models in extended or crew cab formation.

Silverado Centennial Edition features 22-inch painted wheels, while Colorado Centennial Edition sports 18-inchers. Dubbed the Centennial Editions, these specially badged pickups will ditch the modern gold bowtie badges, with a pair of historically inspired blue bowties emblazoned with "Chevrolet" going in their place.

1929 International Series LD: It was the first Chevrolet truck to have a closed cab and launched the interior design of modern pickups.

The Half-Ton was important because it was the first truck designed in the newly formed Art and Colour department (later known as Design Center) by Harley Earl and his team. This was a lower and longer truck with a styled grille and elegant, swept fenders. To join they must either own a truck with over 100,000 miles on it, or purchased or leased at least one new Chevy truck. "The five-bar horizontal grille is a departure from vertical grilles of the past and was the very beginning of what became a signature of Chevrolet truck design", he said.

In addition to Truck Legends branded merchandise and access to an exclusive members-only online community, Chevrolet will periodically offer Truck Legends members once-in-a-lifetime experiences leveraging Chevrolet's partnerships.

One of the best-looking Chevy trucks ever, the C10 Fleetside had a clean look and cool proportions, with a hint of wheel flare.

Available only as off-road-oriented Z71 models, the lightly bedazzled commemorative pickups are notable for their Centennial Blue paint and the "heritage inspired" bow-tie emblems adorning their grilles, front doors, and tailgates.

The original Silverado also introduced numerous modern design elements that customers associate with Chevy truck design, especially the front end.
