Boy, 2, Found In Ohio Pool, Dies In Hospital

The coroner is investigating the cause of death.

The toddler vanished from his home and firefighters found him Sunday evening in the pool in the backyard of a home near State Line Road in Masury, Ohio, less than a half-mile from where he lived in Sharon.

Sharon Police Chief Gerry Smith tells 21 News, "We have to reconstruct those kids entire day yesterday and answer a lot of questions that we have".

Annakin Gammon, 2, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he passed away just before midnight.

"It's heartbreaking", Smith said.

The older boy, who is hearing impaired, was found walking by himself in Brookfield. "This is a parent's worst nightmare".

Once that boy was found, police organized a grid search for his younger brother based on the location of the older boy, Smith said.

Kasiewicz said he and investigators from BCI were at the Syme Street address well into Monday morning looking for clues on how the boy got into the backyard pool.

According to a WKBN-TV report, the child was reported missing in Sharon Sunday afternoon.

Smith said it was hard to get any information out of the older brother who was not identified.

The boy was found in the 600 block of Syme Street in Masury after a 3-4 hour search.

Brookfield police Chief Daniel Faustino said he is grateful for the response from the public.

Police found the boy Sunday night after a lengthy search.

Brookfield, Sharon, state police and multiple other police and fire departments led the search.
