Apple's Wireless Charging Accessory for iPhone Will Not Debut Today

A report from KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo spotted by 9to5Mac says Apple "has stringent requirements for wireless charger RF specifications" and is "waiting for "technological breakthroughs" before committing to mass-production of the accessory. Kuo anticipates the iPhone X to be available in "severe short supply for a while".

Following quite a while of being barred at the bartering table, many AT&T remote laborers and individuals from the Communications Workers of America (CWA) will dissent outside the roll out event of the iPhone 8 at Apple HQ on Tuesday.

The souped-up "anniversary" iPhone, which would come a decade after Apple's late co-founder Steve Jobs unveiled the first version, could also cost twice what the original iPhone did.

Kuo, an often reliable Apple predictor, said the iPhone X and other new iPhones will support the Qi charging standard, meaning the smartphones should work with third-party wireless charging accessories.

Since the high-end iPhone X with an edge-to-edge screen isn't really in full production yet - yesterday's report suggested factories were only making 10,000 per day - Apple supplier Hon Hai will make iPhone 8 Plus units until iPhone X production ramps up in the fourth quarter of 2017.

There is no clarity as to when Apple will release its own wireless charger.

So for users planning to make use of the wireless charging feature on the new iPhones, will have to settle with third party Qi wireless chargers. The KGI report is supported by the fact we have not seen any parts leaks of an Apple charging accessory to date.
