Apple Watch Series 3 Launched With "Electronic SIM"

Apple Watch Series 3 Launched With

The new Apple Watch 3 will be available on 22 September priced at $399 in the U.S., while a non-cellular model will be made available for $329.

When is it out?

Event kicked off with CEO Tim Cook delivering a tribute to Steve Jobs, details on the company's hurricane relief efforts as well as an overview of the new Apple headquarters. The new watch comes out September 22. Watches will be available on September 22. This means that enhanced workout features, Siri functionality will be available to new owners right away. The design challenge Apple faced with the Series 3 was putting a power-hungry LTE radio and antenna inside the device, with a large enough battery to power them, while still keeping the Watch's slim figure. The one which come without cellular feature goes for $329, down from $369 for the comparable model now. By partnering up with universities through something called Apple Heart Study, Apple will be able to predict irregular heart beats and eventually predict whether you're having an heart attack.

Existing Apple Watches will get a software update next Tuesday.

There is one striking change on the Series 3 cellular version: the Digital Crown.

Since the iOS 11 GM leak, however, we've become aware of a new phone complication on the Watch face, along with a signal meter. And in an effort to boast backward compatibility, all straps for the previous models will work just fine.

Apple Watch can further detect if you have an elevated heart rate when resting, and report on your heart rhythm.

This will allow you to use the watch without taking your phone with you, said Apple.

The watch is expected to have 18 hours of battery life across a mix of LTE, WiFi and Bluetooth. If you start chewing up the megabytes streaming Apple Music while your run, are you going to reach the end of your data allowance that much faster every month?

We haven't heard anything confirmed about this yet, but it's always possible that Apple tucked away some surprises in the box for its charger.

The Apple Watch Series 3 is official, and it has built-in cellular capabilities. Chief operating officer Jeff Williams announced the Watch will support third-party apps and can stream over 40 million songs via Apple Music. Now we know when the update will be pushed to the public: September 19.
