Apple launches Watch Series 3 with built-in cellular

Apple (AAPL) on Tuesday introduced its next-generation smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 3, created to have more health and fitness features than its predecessor. The company announced that their Apple Watch is now the number one watch in the world, overtaking Rolex.

The Apple Watch Series 3 also comes with new colours for the Nike+ version.

The new watch is rumoured to have cellular connectivity, meaning that users can make calls and send messages without needing to connect the device to the iPhone.

And you dont have to leave Apple Music at home either, the Series 3 can stream on the go.

The Apple Watch Series 3 will have an LTE chip that enables it to connect to the fastest cellular networks for numerous same functions the iPhone offers.

The new Series 3 will retail in the U.S. for $399 ( £300) with mobile and $329 ( £248), while the much slower Series 1 will be $249 ( £188). You can pre-order from September 15th in selected countries, with actual availability starting on September 22nd. The device will also notify users of an elevated heart rate when the users are non-active.

Do you already use a heart-rate monitor? Looks like the new Apple Watch has many new tricks up it's sleeve.

Apple is going to launch the iPhone 8 today, alongside two other variants which will be a slightly advanced version of the current iPhone 7 generation. You will have to wait for the event to see if they announce similar models for their next Watch. The Series 3 will track resting heart rate, calculate recovery heart rate, and alert you if your heart rate elevates when you're not exercising. The watch will also be able to detect irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) - a leading cause of stroke. As expected, it comes with built-in cellular. Though what this will do to battery life is a legitimate concern, given how data-hungry internet connections tend to be.

The Apple Watch only allows you to answer your calls on Speakerphone, so you won't want to use this all the time.

BusinessKorea reports that the Apple Watch 3 could include a new micro-LED display, compared to the OLED display of its predecessors.
