Woman killed as Pak violates ceasefire in J&K Mendhar:- A lady was killed in the shelling from Pakistan side in Mendhar segment of Jammu and Kashmir amid small hours on Saturday.
A defence spokesperson said, Pakistani troops from across the Line of Control started unprovoked firing and shelling targeting Indian positions and civilian areas around 5 this morning.
Another soldier is reported to have been injured in Pakistan army's indiscriminate firing in the same sector.
The spokesman said army men effectively returned the fire from similar caliber weapons and the Pakistani guns fell silent at around 06.45 am. Both the jawans were caught under firing on forward posts and shelling mortars along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The martyred jawan, Nb Sub Jagram Singh Tomar, was grievously injured and later succumbed to his injuries.
Tomar, 42 years, belonged to village Tarsana in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district and is survived by his wife and a son and daughter. "15 am in Poonch sector along the LoC". Identified as Raqia Bi of Gohlad Kalran in Mendhar sector, sources said that she became a victim to a Pakistani shell which fell near her house.
This year, Pakistani forces have carried out 301 incidents of unprovoked ceasefire violations along the LoC, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
