Nassau County and Hempstead Village police investigate the

Bobby Vanderhall, 34, was accused of breaking into his mother Lynn Reichenbach-Vanderhall's house and through the basement door and beating his mom before doing the same to his sister, Melissa Vanderhall and her friend Janel Simpson, one of the women visiting the house. He obtained a large hammer, Detective Lt. Stephen Fitzpatrick, head of the Nassau County Police Homicide Squad.

A fourth woman was also attacked, but managed to escape the home and call for help.

Nassau police investigate a triple homicide on Perry Street in Hempstead on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017.

"He went to the garage".

According to police, Vanderhall was found sleeping in a vehicle within two miles of the crime scene and was arrested, police say.

They found a chaotic scene with three women dead - they were identified as a 58-year-old, a 28-year-old and a third woman whose age was not known. He described his daughter and her friends as fun-loving women and said they were even planning to go to Cuba in the fall.

Vanderhall found the last victim, 29-year-old Janel Simpson, in an upstairs room.

Denis Simpson said his daughter, Janel (pictured, March 2016), had worked late as a secretary at Northwell Health and then went to her friend's house to hang out.

Candace Murray, 29, fought back and ran out of the house, CBS New York reported.

Police say Vanderhall had a history of emotional problems.

He had a record of arrests for drunken driving, drug possession and sexual abuse, according to reports.

He is due to be arraigned on charges of murder and attempted murder.
