Mourinho confirms Manchester United in talks with Ibrahimovic

"He wants more football at the highest level so we are having conversations and discussing the possibility of him staying for the second part of the season".

Ibrahimovic was United's top scorer with 28 goals in 46 appearances last season, before suffering a serious knee injury against Anderlecht in April which ended his season early. We are not desperate to have it (a deal) done or not.

"But we have lost important players to injury too, such as Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young, Luke Shaw, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic".

"I just think that he was very clear by showing that what he did past year was not enough for him".

"If the remaining 25 per cent doesn't come until 31st August, I won't moan and I will work with what I have. It would be silly to dismiss Chelsea after the way they played so dominantly a year ago but looking at the teams, I think City and United will be up there and the teams to watch". "I'm happy with the effort the club did and I'm happy they managed to do 75 percent of the work before the Premier League starts".

This week's remarkable interview by the latter has led links with Old Trafford to grow and Mourinho has not ruled out a move for a full-back this month. "Of course, for the next three, four years, Manchester City is going to buy one, two players (each window)".

"We always had more goals with wingers, midfielders getting 10 goals, central defenders getting five goals and last season that did not happen much".

Centre-back Victor Lindelof, midfielder Nemanja Matic and striker Romelu Lukaku are all over 1.82m tall, giving United the second-tallest squad in the division behind Tony Pulis's West Bromwich Albion.

One of the most valuable free agents on the market, Ibrahimovic quickly became the subject of interest for several clubs and was most recently linked with a potential return to former side AC Milan.

"But if we cannot strengthen the team in this area, we have players we can trust".

"We needed to do that this summer because it was one of the oldest teams in Europe, not just the Premier League".

City is most pundits' favorites to win the league title, after finishing 15 points behind champion Chelsea last season. "I'd say seven teams to fight for the title and 20 teams to fight for the victory every weekend, every match".

"The club are also what you know".

"This is the Premier League, different from any one of the other leagues and I worked in three other leagues apart from the English one".
