Michigan native Brad Keselowski wins the pole for the Prue Michigan 400

It's at the top of Brad Keselowski's bucket list - to win a Monster Energy NASCAR Series race at Michigan International Speedway.

The Team Penske ace, who is now sixth in Cup standings, has come tantalizingly close to winning a Cup race at MIS, finishing second in the 2012 August event and placing third three times (2011, 2014, and 2016). His victory at the 2-mile MI track that year ended his long drought. I think we can win in, and I think we can point our way in.

Team Penske dominated NASCAR Cup qualifying Friday as its two drivers were fastest and second fastest at the Michigan International Speedway oval that sits just down the road from their tam owner's home base. A possible side trip on Saturday night to Knoxville, Iowa to race in the Knoxville Nationals sprint auto event could provide extra motivation or could become a distraction. (198.813mph), Suarez (198.703mph), Logano (198.621mph), Truex Jr.

With four wins this season, Martin Truex Jr.is taking the series by storm. Brad Keselowski has also been impressive on the two-mile tracks with a 6.3 average finish over the last eight races and has finished Top 10 in nine of his last races between the two tracks. He has four wins this season, including a win in the I Love New TYork 355 at the Glen last week, and is at the top of the standings, leading Kyle Busch by 116 points.

I am honestly not sure how popular Blaney will be to the general public this week as he has just one top 10 at MI in five races and three finishes of 24th or worse. Elliott is qualified for the playoffs by points at the moment but is by no means safe as there are a lot of good drivers still searching for their first victory this season. This isn't the end of the line if Junior doesn't win, there are three more races after MI and Dale has won at two of those Bristol and Richmond.

Matt Kenseth is one of the desperate drivers without a win this season to date and now sitting on the edge of making the playoff cut. Matt Kenseth is listed at attractive 18-1 odds this weekend and should not be forgotten when looking for favorites for the Pure Michigan 400.

(22) Joey Logano, Ford, 203.063 miles per hour. In 16 starts, Keselowski has earned five top-five finishes - his best was second in 2012.

He has yet to win here in his career but has been very consistent finishing Top 10 in six of his last seven here with three Top 10 finishes. "I probably don't even get on the track until 8:30 or 9 a.m. on Saturday, so the logistics part of it isn't that tricky".

"Any success you have at your home track is right there with having success in the biggest races of the year like Daytona for the 500 and the championship", Keselowski said.

"I just got loose over there", Blaney said.

Keselowski is locked into the playoffs, but Logano isn't.
