Miami Dolphins sign QB Jay Cutler to one-year deal

Before the Dolphins' agreement with Cutler, veteran backup Matt Moore had been poised to take over for Tannehill as the starting quarterback.

He said he received "no guarantees" regarding a starting job and that he has "come here to help".

Cutler had a career year of sorts under Dolphins coach Adam Gase - then the quarterback and offensive coordinator respectively for the Chicago Bears - in 2015, completing 64.4 percent of his passes for 3,659 yards with 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 15 games. Gase joined Miami in 2016, and Cutler parted with Chicago in March after eight seasons.

"That's good. It's good for Jay", he said.

Cavallari surely sees a side of Cutler no one else does, so her push for him to play again comes with merit. The 34-year-old Cutler chose to delay the start of his network TV career for the chance to replace Ryan Tannehill and be reunited with Gase, his former offensive coordinator with the Bears.

Cutler admitted the decision to come back was not an easy one.

I've been a fan of Stafford's for a while now, and the last six years have been impressive from him. "I know everybody here wishes him nothing but the best".

As for whether he would begin his first practice as the starter, Gase wouldn't give anything away just yet. You know, you're around it.

- Casey Wright (@Casey_C_Wright) August 7, 2017 " I've made a bad mistake".

"I'm pretty sure he's already got it", Gase said.

Cutler played in just five games a year ago due to a season-ending shoulder injury. Given that, it's worth noting that in Cutler's most recent play - his last 250 action plays - his EPA/P took a nosedive all the way down to.049.

"I think he [Adam Gase] does a good job of putting quarterbacks in really good positions", Cutler said.

Here's to hoping Cutler doesn't have to get too into shape and that he finds that dinner room. He threw the most incredible surprise party and made me feel so special and loved and I will forever be grateful for this man, my family, and all my fantastic friends.

What a roller coaster it has been for the National Football League team. Tannehill has never played in a playoff game during his six years in the NFL. The last four months I've been in a different mode, different mind-set getting ready for the FOX deal.
