Bulgaria Kidnapper in Dutch Radio Station Surrendered

Local media reported that a woman was being held against her will in the office of 3FM radio station.

According to a statement by the police, the 33-year-old suspect has been taken to the local police station for interrogation.

ANP Nieuws reported earlier the man had had a dispute with the woman, an employee at the station, outside the building, and then forced her to accompany him inside at knifepoint.

The nature of the man's relationship with the woman remains unclear.

Police surrounded the building and nobody was allowed to enter, spokeswoman De Heer said.

The broadcaster also said that the man had entered the building holding a big knife to her throat and that he had wanted to speak to someone from CNN.

The Hilversum campus houses one arm of the Dutch national broadcaster, NPO alongside a range of other networks including the main commercial broadcaster, NOS.

The report said that police found a bag and a knife 50 meters from the building.
