Byron board member says he is "wrongly implicated" in Putney Bridge incident

Banker arrested on suspicion of pushing woman in front of bus cleared of any wrongdoing

Lawyers for a man who was arrested in connection with a jogger appearing to push a woman in front of an oncoming London bus say he has "irrefutable proof" that he was in the United States at the time of the incident.

"This statement is issued in relation to our client, Mr Eric Bellquist, who was arrested yesterday in relation to an assault that took place between a male jogger and a female pedestrian on May 5, 2017 on Putney Bridge, London", Bellquist's lawyers, Duncan Lewis Solicitors, says.

Eric Bellquist, 41, was arrested by London police on August 10 in connection with the ongoing investigation into the May assault. That person was later determined to be 41-year-old Eric Bellquist, who NY Daily News describes as a San Diego native who's been working as an investment baker with London's Hutton Collins Partners since 2002.

Officers claimed the jogger ran the other way across the bridge around 15 minutes later and the victim attempted to speak to him, but "he did not acknowledge her".

Mr Bellquist's lawyer added he had "irrefutable proof" he was in the United States at the time.

The footage shows a bus swerving to narrowly miss the woman. It says he now represents Hutton Collins for the restaurant chains Byron Hamburgers and Wagamama, and had helmed the firm's investment in Caffè Nero.

Police said the victim suffered minor injuries and passengers on the bus came to her aid.

A senior source from the bus company Go Ahead London said it was only down to the slow speed of the vehicle that the accident did not result in serious injury.
