Djokovic eases into third round

John McEnroe turned heads this week with some comments comparing Novak Djokovic to Tiger Woods.

"The person that comes to mind immediately is Tiger Woods", said McEnroe in reference to the golf superstar whose life and career imploded after a series of extra-marital affairs were revealed.

Djokovic has not quite gone off the rails yet, like Woods, and the Serbian, whose wife Jelena is now pregnant, took the diplomatic route when asked about McEnroe's comments.

In the press conference following his 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 victory over the Czech Republic's Adam Pavlasek, Djokovic said of the speculation: "Yeah, I have heard about it today". "It's not there. I couldn't care less if I make a fourth round (at the) U.S. Open or I lose (in the) first round. I really don't take anything personal".

He will next play Ernests Gulbis, who produced some thrilling tennis to beat No29 seed Juan Martin del Potro.

She trailed 5-3 in the second set before winning the next two games.

"So I guess I don't know quite what to expect in the match on Saturday", added Federer, who will be posed very different questions by the left-hander. "You know, I'm already enjoying the process very much".

Dimitrov, a Wimbledon semifinalist in 2014, will next face either seven-time champion Roger Federer or Mischa Zverev.

Seventh seed Svetlana Kuznetsova made her way past compatriot Ekaterina Makarova 6-0, 7-5 while American Vandeweghe beat Tatjana Maria 6-4, 6-2.

Edmund did manage to break back having fallen behind in the second set but Monfils always had the extra shot up his sleeve to wear down the 22-year-old.

Djokovic won the Wimbledon title in 2011, '14 and '15.

With that, Lajovic's resolve was broken and he went long to hand Federer an immediate advantage in set three and in no time it was a double-break 5-1 lead.

American John Isner also was bounced from the tournament as the No. 23 seed lost to Israel's Dudi Sela 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 5-7, 7-6 (5), 6-3. Meanwhile, the Serbian tennis star is fresh off of a straight set second round win at Wimbledon. "Eventually you miss the competition of those nerves, but also just seeing my fellow tennis players, friends on the tour and so many people that go with it; tournament organizers, tournaments, fans, you name it, so I think you start missing that, of course".

A number of players have been concerned about the court condition over the opening week, including Kristina Mladenovic of France and Alison Riske of the United States, who each fell during their second-round match on Court 18 on Thursday. "That's why I lost".

Of the 32 seeds in Wimbledon's men's draw, 16 are over 30-several of them significantly so.

The only other time he reached the third round at Wimbledon was in 2013.
