Trump calls ex-FBI director Comey a 'leaker' after testimony

At Thursday's hearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Comey explained his decision to memorialize his meetings with the president by expressing his worry that Trump "might lie about" their meetings.

Bharara says he's not accusing Trump of pressing him on any particular case. They were sorely disappointed. McLaughlin even insists that Trump is owed an apology by those who implied he is under investigation: "In light of Comey's repeated confirmation that the FBI was never investigating Trump during his tenure at the FBI, and that he had privately briefed both Trump and Congress to that effect, a whole lot of people - starting with Chuck Schumer and Elizabeth Warren - owe President Trump an apology".

The testimony got everybody's attention, Oliver noted, when he kicked things off saying he had no doubt Trump fired him because of the FBI's Russian Federation investigation. But Trump broke his silence at 6:10 a.m.by tweeting: "Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication. and WOW, Comey is a leaker!"

The committee also sent a letter to Comey asking for any notes or memos in his possession about the discussions he had with Trump before being abruptly fired last month.

Comey covered more ground than that, however. "You can't have obstruction of justice when the president didn't commit a crime", he wrote. My former colleagues at the Federal Bureau of Investigation who are working on this case and have uncovered the full scale of Russia's efforts must be incredulous at Trump's cavalier attitude. "I would be glad to tell him exactly what I just told you", Trump replied. You suggested he didn't tell the truth in everything he said. That can be reasonably construed as the president thinking there is no reasonable basis to believe that there had been a violation of the law and thus no reasonable basis for the FBI to continue its investigation.

If they do, they asked that copies of the materials be provided to the panel by June 23.

Trump also seized on Comey's revelation that he had directed a friend to release memos he'd written documenting his conversations with the president to a reporter.

And, he added, the investigation being obstructed is of much greater significance to the country. His disastrous last few weeks culminated with former FBI Director James Comey delivering stinging testimony about how the President leaned on him to stop a major investigation into the administration.

Given where President Trump is in his term, and the damage the Republicans can easily face as a result of the Russian Federation investigation, Trump's claim of victory shows that it is the President who is living in the bubble - his own imagination.

WILLIAM BRANGHAM: Conservative media conservative news outlets and a number of Republicans backed Mr. Trump over Comey. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), was weak. He claimed that he was concerned that if that was made public and "the boomerang comes back, it's going to be a very big deal, because there will be a duty to correct".

Mueller served as FBI Director from 2001 until 2013.

TRUMP: I hardly know the man. When asked by Sen. The White House later redacted that reason entirely.

After the election but before the inauguration, Trump asked Bharara to stay on as USA attorney in Manhattan when they met at Trump Tower.

Comey's testimony was damning. My reading of it was it was important for me to assure him we were not person investigating him. Flynn was under active FBI investigation related to his communications with the Russians and other matters.

This is, we surmise, the same not-so-near future in which Trump revealed damning information about Barack Obama's birth certificate, and released his tax returns, and prevented evidence of Obama wiretapping, and presented a tax plan, and issued an infrastructure plan, and.

Former FBI director James Comey is "cowardly", according to US President Donald Trump. It gives them a powerful motive to simply make things up.
