Since Monday morning, a group of contestants had their lips pressed against cars in the hope of winning a new Kia Optima. Would you give it a smooch?
The victory was clearly excited in being awarded the auto, jumping into the vehicle she spent 50 hours essentially kissing. "20 participants put their lips on a Kia Optima starting at 8:00 am (United States time) and they'll need to leave them on the vehicle until only one person is left to win it!"
The rules were pretty straightforward: the last person to be smooching the sedan after 50 hours would be declared the victor. The contestants get 10-minute breaks every hour. But, for the remaining 50 minutes, they were expected to stand, bend or kneel next to the vehicle. They also were required to rotate around the cars they were kissing and had to spend time sitting and standing.
Some 20 people participated in the quirky contest. By Tuesday afternoon, the numbers dwindled down to 11. China has been holding such weird competitions since 2007, and Mashable reports that a vehicle dealership also had people kiss an auto for 70 hours, in 2012.
We have heard stories about winning a vehicle through lucky draws and some other contests like answering a few questions. Jayasuriya walked away with the keys to a brand new 2017 Kia Optima, valued at $23,000 Dollars. She said she and her husband were sharing one auto since she had to give up on her 1998 Toyota Camry because it broke down too much. We know what you're thinking: Yes, there could use the bathroom.
Radio station 96.7 KISS FM staged the contest, dubbed "Kiss a Kia".
"Some left voluntarily, some were called out for their lips coming off the auto", said director Zachary Wellsandt, adding those who were called out early had left in "great spirits" and gone home to get some "well-earned sleep".
