Neil Young Illness 'Nothing Major'

Neil Young Illness 'Nothing Major'

Perry might even team up for a song or two with the band when it performs later in the evening, TMZ is reporting. Ament - and his shirt - politely paid respect to almost 100 musicians that have not yet been inducted into the Rock Hall, many of whom have inspired his band.

"Due to illness, Neil Young is regrettably no longer able to induct Pearl Jam at this Year's Induction Ceremony", the Rock Hall said in a statement on Wednesday.

Perhaps the most anticipated speech of the night was David Letterman's induction of Pearl Jam.

"It was you. I love these people so much". She talked about how her fame has reached many generations.

Hitmakers Journey reunited with longtime estranged singer Steve Perry, but only for their induction speech, as the singer has not performed with the band in decades and has only rarely sung in public.

"You're the one who put us here", Perry said to the Journey fans, earning one of the night's loudest applauses. "I can't begin to tell you what an honor and a privilege it is for me to be out of the house, honest to God", he said.

As the Washington Times reports, Letterman praised the influential musicians, saying, "For thirty-three years every night I got to experience the blessing of live music".

The induction of folk legend Joan Baez, which inductor Jackson Browne called "long, long overdue", actually seemed well timed, as protest music grows in popularity.

"I never really felt like I was part of the band".

Add Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder to the list of people who would likely vote for Chance The Rapper should he decide to run for office in Chicago.

Last night, Brooklyn's Barclays Center hosted a ceremony welcoming the new 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. It just built anticipation for Pearl Jam's epic performance, which included "Alive" (with original drummer Dave Krusen), "Given to Fly" and the sing-a-along "Better Man".

Another icon, Nile Rodgers of disco-funk band Chic, will be inducted separately from the group into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame by Pharrell Williams. David Letterman will induct Pearl Jam in his stead.

HBO will air an edited version of the ceremony at 8 p.m. April 29.
