Comedian Charlie Murphy Dead at 57 After Battling Leukemia

Eddie Murphy's older brother Charlie passes away at age 57

Charlie Murphy, known as the famous Chappelle's Show collaborator with Dave Chapelle, died at a New York City hospital on Wednesday, April 12th.

According to Charlie's manager, he died aged 57 from leukaemia early this Wednesday morning in a NY hospital.

The comedian went on to co-write his brother's movies "Vampire in Brooklyn" and "Norbit". "Keep his family in your thoughts and in your prayers and keep a space for Charlie in you're heart".

He starred in his own comedy series, Charlie Murphy's Crash Comedy, on Crackle, and in his own stand-up special, Charlie Murphy: I Will Not Apologize, on Comedy Central.

He has said that he was so fond of Eddie and found him so amusing that he would not hesitate to confront people who did not laugh during his appearances.

Former basketball great Magic Johnson tweeted: "I haven't seen anything as amusing as Charlie Murphy & Dave Chappelle's skits on the Chappelle's Show!".

"We just lose one of the funniest most real brothers of all time", tweeted out Chris Rock when he heard of his passing.

He is survived by three children. "I loved Charlie Murphy".

In 2009, Murphy lost his wife, Trisha Taylor Murphy, to cervical cancer. Thanks to all of his brilliant and hilarious work, Charlie Murphy's talent will live on, and fans will always remember him.

It reads: "One to Sleep On: Release the past to rest as deeply as possible".
